| Sunday 30th December - Barford - Boxing Day Bash An excellent showing of 46 bangers for the Batchelors £1000 Blitz with visiting Teams being the Mob and Levellers having a big number between them. There were also visitors from the Stinkbridge and Team V camps but furthest travelled probably went to 271 Mark Dalgarno and 274 John Taylor who came from North of Crimond! A variety in motors among the pits starting with 2 each for the Vectra, Primera, Bluebird and Sierra. Just 1 Mondeo, which was an estate. 15 big Volvo's with the most unusual one being an 850. Moving on to the Jags and only 1 Series 3 which was used and 5 XJ40's, 305 John Kirkbride having top Jag with an XJS. 11 Granadas with 2 Mk2's fresh, there were Mk1's in the hands of 320 Darryl Wall, 456 Steve Allen and 440 Pete McVay with only the latters fresh while 76 Ryan Scott had a well smart Mk2 Hearse. The top material was a used FX4 Taxi from the Firecracker driven by 115 Howard Draper, 275 Joe Morgan had a Laurel, 371 Steve Grundy weilded a Humber Hawk while top car by a mile was 152 Jim Dillon's A125 Sheerline Saloon. Just over 20 cars for Heat 1 and 6 Paul Musgrove (XJ40) was span out and 478 Chris Spears (Volvo 740 Est) ploughed into the side of him while being pushed by the pack. 455 Ricky Finney (Mk2) was span out and 759 Chris Oldcorn (XJ6) done him on the nose before 688 Wayne Morphet (Mk2) turned round and nailed the Stinkbridge pilot to end his day early. 193 Graham Black (XJ40) fired into the back of Oldcorn and 112 Darren Prestiage (Volvo 240 Est) hammered him in turn. 182 Gary Cooper (Vectra) tried attacking 155 Scott Hamilton (XJ40) but got done by 152 Mr Grumpy twice after he tried diving to the middle the first time. 310 John Nicholson (Mk2) took the win in this one. Same again for Heat 2 although it was quieter with a few getting stuck on the banking in the middle. 51 Simon Hields (Volvo 240 Est) picked up 456 Steve Allen and put him in the wall. 07 Phil Rogerson (Mk2 Est) hit 808 Steve Tyson (Volvo 740 Est) but the latter carried on to land one on 22 Paul Fullen (Volvo 240). 371 Spider had been stuck for a while before freeing himself and came round on oppo to land a big head on to 30 Richard Heslop (XJ40) before 305 the General put away Fullen. 862 Dave Kingstone (Bluebird) took the flag this time. 22 cars returned for the Final and it was a goodun with 51 Hields following in 808 Tosh a treat snapping the Volvo and 111 Ian Mirza (Volvo 740) nailed the former before 143 Sam Begley (Mondeo Est) picked up 25 Jonathan Younger (Vectra) but had to let go last minute as there were people getting out of their motors but still ended up in the side of Mirza. 810 Alex McBrain (Volvo 740) and Hields enjoyed a head on before 478 Spears followed in 24 Dave Burlison (Sierra) into the side of 274 Taylor (Volvo 240 Est). 07 Phil Rogerson was a victim of another follow in, this time by the Primera of 300 Dan Kirkbride and 143 Screamer nailed Spears. 118 Steve McCormick (Mk2 Est) followed in 0 Eddy Musgrove (XJ40) before taking a roofbender off Taylor. 298 Paul Chellen (Mk2 Est) turned it round and had a rather tame head on to 271 Mark Dalgarno (Volvo 240 Est) before the latter notched up a gear and decided to do 474 Matty Threlkeld (Volvo 240 Est) over the front wheel on oppo before making plenty more succesful attempts at stopping him. Kirkbride then attacked Matty before he took another hit from 271 Mr T. Screamer then hit Matty on the nose while Mr T then hammered 310 Eno on oppo too while 67 Mark Whittaker (Bluebird) took the win. 28 returned for the DD although there was alot of fog by this time. Mr Grumpy hammered 28 Alan Lineham (Volvo 850) on the nose and Kirkbride steamed into the back of 117 Terry Bradley before Screamer nailed the Leveller driver in turn before taking a package from Tyson. 115 Howard Draper (in his first race) and 159 Paul Farrel (Volvo 240) shared a head on while the General hammered Matty. 155 Scott Hamilton (XJ40) had a head on with Hields before Kirkbride blasted the latter and 157 Tam (Volvo 240 Est) had a head on with 6 Musgrove before having an even bigger one on the straight. 688 Morphet nailed Eno while it was left to Dog End and 320 Wall to battle it out but the Leveller killed his own car hitting the Mk1 before they helped Screamer off the grass to nail Wall twice to end a good meeting. I don't know the official result of the DD but it probably went to Screamer.
