Sunday 28th May - Smeatharpe - Crasharama
Report by BangerBash

Just over 70 motors for this years Crasharama which was a superb turnout with visitors from Spedeworth andSmallfield
including 536 Annette Nicholls from TSR and 474 Matty Threlkeld from Warton! The Volvo’s and Jags were the most
popular mount with Annette having top Jag in the form of an XJ-S. Top Granada’s were 66 Dave Spooner and 555
Shifty’s Mk1’s with the former’s one being very smart. 908 Dave Brown had a Mk3 Hearse. Onto the Jap stuff and 118
Aaron Brown had a Laurel, there were Datsun 280C Estate’s in the hand s of 199 Jamie Wyatt and 523 John
Swanborough with the latter’s being used. 221 Justin Riley and 521 Ash Riley had a used and fresh Supra between
them. 228 Tom Caplin returned a Custom Crown as did 239 Steve Carter with THAT Estate version. On the vintage
side, 395 Joe Donworth returned his Wimbo Rover P5 and 341 Andrew Jones had a well presented DS420 Hearse.
Yanks came in the shapes of Lincoln Town Car Limo’s for 39 Bobby Janes and 46 Clifford Friend with the latter being a
well long version. 174 Simon Jaycock had an unpainted Thunderbird, 191 Ashley Kemble took a Ford LTD, 262 Buddy
James impressed with an unpainted Chevy Caprice, 507 Paul Ashby took a well smart Cadillac Eldorado which sadly
didn’t race while the top car for me was the ultra smart Mercury Monarch of Team Mental pilot 409 Joey Collins.

Furthest Traveled award went to 474, Material awards went the way of  118, 262, 395, 409, 555 908, best presented
were 341, 714 and 66 while Longest awards went to 39 and 46.

All cars are Volvo’s unless stated.

Onto the action and Heat 1 had 21 cars in it. It started with 444 Tim Sherratt (240 Est) hitting the wall with 555 (Mk1),
710 James Herbert (XJ), 101 Andrew Bishop (740 Est) and 772 Chris Noble (740 Est) joining him. 521 Ash Riley
(Supra) took out 39 Bobby Janes (Lincoln Limo) while Matty (Mk2) did the same to 66 Dave Spooner (Mk1) as did 9
Kev Harris (240) to 731 Sean Dyer (XJ). Spoons managed to take the win in this very quiet race.

Heat 2 had 1 more and was slightly better. 321 Brett Fry (XJ) followed in 449 Steve Guppy (XJ) into the wall while 428
Richard Reagan (XJ) put in by 721 Grant Butler 747 (both 240’s). 794 Simon Foreman (XJ) took out 133 Ben Wyatt
(XJ) and 199 Bona (280C Est) blasted Shaggy for his troubles. 536 Annette Nicholls (XJ-S) landed a shot on 1 Dave
Thomas (240) while 395 West Hoe Warrior lunged at the former and ate nothing but tractor tire. 174 Simon Jaycock
(Thunderbird) picked up 46 Clifford Friend (Lincoln Limo) and put him away and 262 Buddy James (Caprice) nailed the
former. The reds had to come out as Jaycock’s drivers side was embedded into the Limo’s boot. There was 5 cars for
the restart and it was action less 46 Keith Painter (XJ) took the win ahead of 820 Martyn Perkins (Mk2 Est) and
defending Champ Annette.

Same again for Heat 3 and 409 Joey Collins (Mercury Monarch) put in 228 Tom Caplin (Custom Crown) and 298 Sam
Wyatt (XJ) nailed the Yank. 890 Barry Collins (XJ) then landed one on Showman. 341 Andrew Jones (DS420 Hearse)
lined up to give it to Barry Collins but he dived to the middle and the DS connected to 659 Neil Payne (240 Est) with a
head on. 221 Justin Riley (Supra) then homed in on Jonesey and 32 Matt Small nailed Motormouth. 421 Nigel Riley
(240 Est) then picked up 228 Tom Caplin and planted him in the back of the DS snapping the Crown nicely. Meanwhile
Joey Collins and Showman were doing stupid hits on the middle. Nutty Nige then followed in 916 Luke Thomas (240
Est) while Showman and Collins continued on the middle. 523 Swampy (280C Est) then joined in nailing 28 Caplin (240
Est) on the middle as well. When Swampy came back off Nutty Nige nailed duly nailed him. 190 Steve Bailey (XJ) did a
storming follow in to 241 Liam Cracknall to end his day en route to winning the race. Thankfully all the Mental and
Posh Wash hitting on the centre got loaded as did Swampy.

The Consolation had 23 cars and Wingnut attacked 817 (Mk2) while 7 Jamie Charles nailed Janes’ Limo. Janes and
159 Mitchell Mills (XJ) then piled into Wingnut. 710 James Herbert (XJ) nailed Janes while 747 (240) hammered
Charles. Ace Ash saw Rubble sitting in his car and gave him a superb t-bone which trashed the latter. Grumpy layed
into Bona while Ace Ash and The Thug gave Jamie Charles a hard time. Werzal planted himself into 46 Friend’s Limo
and Grumpy blasted the Posh Wash pilot. Wingnut was lurking and gave Charles a head on and Ace Ash piled into the
lone QA man. 470 Steve Nelson (XJ) attacked Buddy James as 45 Anthony Crowshaw (240 Est) took the win from 1
TDT and Nelson.

21 qualifiers made it back for the final and Lips span out Matty while 551 Moley (XJ) followed in 555 Shifty (Mk1). 88
Tim Wood (740) then piled into the Mk1 before the reds came out as it was on fire. On the restart Ash attacked 702
Jimbo Dodge (240 Est) on the middle while Pikey shunted 989 Dean Arm (Mk2 Limo). 191 Ashley Kemble (Ford LTD)
went for Sean Dyer as 118 Aaron Brown (Laurel) did a massive follow in to 88 Tim Wood. Ash blasted Arry before
continuing to t-bone Dyer. Kemble hit into Arry’s empty Laurel before recoverving to run in the Supra of Ash. Nutty Nige
then t-boned Kemble before Pikey nailed Ash. Lips piled in on Nige and Ash before Pikey nailed Nige this time. 239
Steve Carter (Custom Crown Est) then drove into Lips before an unfortunate fight broke out between Ash and Lips.
Lips being loaded for an empty car hit on Ash and the latter loaded for fighting. The race was declared and Annette
retained her title ahead of Maverick and TDT.

The allcomers had a big grid of 31 cars and 989 Arm fenced 174 Jaycock. Nutty Nige then nailing Arm. Pikey hit the
chief Bear. While Steve Carter gave Pikey a massive t-bone. Bona gave a hard shot to 908 Dave Brown (Mk3 Hearse)
and 134 Toady (240 Est) blasted Bona. Herbert the Teeth joined in the train to nail Toady and 244 Baby Bunny (XJ)
nailed the Teeth before the reds came out for a shaken Brown. Just over a dozen for the restart and Motormouth put
in Buddy James before Clifford Friend hammered the former. Bona piled into the Lincoln and 31 Geordie nailed Bona.
Nutty Nige then went though the side of the big Limo while Maverick nailed Geordie and Bunny nailed Nige. 169
Thompson then flattened the Autospeed World Champ and Jimbo Dodge nailed Thompson. The last hit saw 772 Chris
Noble join the wrecking train while Matty took the win ahead of 916 Little Trubble and 239 Steve Carter.

14 for the DD and Baby Bunny went through the side off Motormouth who was coming on oppo. 699 Thomas Gough
(Mk2) nailed the youngest Riley before Geordie lengthed the Real Steel man. 284 Lee Stoffel and 101 Andrew Bishop
shared a head on and Herbert the Teeth decimated Stoffel and it burst into flames as Matty and Danny Caplin joined
the train. The reds came out for the fire. On the restart Ashley Kemble and Motormouth had a head on before Kemble
came DSU on the middle at Disco Stu. Disco Stu then doing an equally stupid DSU hit back to bring out the reds again.
Somehow Kemble escaped load up while Stu had to sit the restart out. Nutty Nige blasted Kemble while Caplin and
Geordie had a head on. Carter then hit the latter before delivering a still hit to Nige. Only Grumpy and Carter were left
and Grumpy outlasted Carter for the win.
