| Wednesday 26th December - Wimbledon - Big Van Bangers Just over 20 Vans assembled for what could be the final Big Van session at Wimbledon. The LDV's dominated however 221 Mark Dopson and 409 Chris Venables brought Mk 3 Transit Ambulances, 200 Dean Archer bringing a Merc 310 version, and 757 Tom Farren a late LDV Convoy version. It was however 622 Gazza who took the top van prize with his big Merc Motorhome. Just 242 Korps missing for Heat 1 as he blew his diff up leaving the yard. 528 Jethro immediately picked up 442 Crittenden and planted him into 973 Paul Henry, with 245 Jack France sticking it to Henry with a head on. 622 Gazza spun 766 Sam Webb allowing 440 Ian Phillips to dish out a savage t-bone. 722 David Richards dished out a head on to 973 Henry who had been spun again, this time by 46 Maverick. 206 Kingy sent 440 Phillips fenceward, the latter recovering to give it to Maverick. 622 Gazza followed in 522 Weevil under the score board as Phillips continued his good show with a t-bone on 757 Tom Farren. 46 Maverick thunded 440 Phillips up a post on the pit bend, copping a black flag and load up as per the rules as elsewhere 528 Jethro gave 705 Richard Berlin a solid hit. 206 Kingy took a full contact win. Next up was the Final and down to 15. 134 Toady kicked things off spinning 766 Sam Webb with 757 Farren having a similar fate courtesy of 24 Stinky. 528 Jethro flicked out 134 Toady with the Smallfield man recovering to jack Webb. 757 Farren went on a mission giving 622 Gazza a big t-bone before doing the same to 973 Paul Henry. 340 Jonesy put 242 Korps into a tyre as 973 Henry fired back putting 757 Farren in the fence. 766 Webb jacked 528 Jethro on the score board bend but took a big hit over the back wheel from 622 Gazza as a consequence. 442 Crittenden gave 757 Farren a meaty t-bone as 134 Toady backed across infront of 127 Cokey Jnr, who was more than happy to give him the bone. 442 Crittenden gave Toady another bone before being spun out by Korps, Kingy taking the win again. The DD attracted 17 vans with 440 Phillips going straight for 528 Jethro and 241 Paul Korpiela doing likewise with 705 Richard Berlin, before t-boning running mate 409 Chris Venables on the middle. 528 Jethro jacked 757 Farren in the pile up on the scoreboard bend, with 442 Crittenden and 221 Mark Dopson meeting in a big head on at the other end. 127 Cokey Jnr backed down the straight at speed and caught 242 Korps in the drivers area in a ridiculously stupid hit, leaving Korps trapped in his van. After a lengthly delay Ricky excited and managed to walk off, best wishes for a speedy recovery. On the restart 440 Phillips stuck it to 528 Jethro against the flow as 241 Korps sought revenge with a monster head on to 127 Cokey Jnr, 440 Phillips also doing Cokey. 622 Gazza gave Korps a big t-bone over the drivers side with Crittenden also doing the Bad Co man although Phillips was quickly in on the RDC pilot. 134 Toady took on Gazza with a t-bone, leaving himself open to a shot from Kingy. Toady and Kingy exchanged hits before the latter came inside out, thankfully hitting the back wheel. Kingy continued with a t-bone on Farren, before taking one from Gazza which killed Kingy leaving Gazza and Toady to fight out for the win. Toady kept his van going in epic fashion but as you’d expect the big Merc outlasted his LDV for the win to end a good meeting.
