Sunday 21st October - Standlake - 1400 Teams
Report by BangerBash

ABC (AB), All Blacks (AB), Dream Team (DT), Equalisers (E), FBI (FB), Fubar (FU), Gumm Boys (GB), Havoc (H),
Messer & Maniacs (MM), Northern Blues (NB), Raid (RA), Real Deal (RD), Smarties (SM), Spares (SP), 3 Litre (TL), 3
Litre Old Boys (TO), Undertakers (U), Wasps (WA), Weymouth Wallies (WW), Wells Maisonary (WM)

An excellent field of around 75 cars turned up for a 1400cc Team meeting at Standlake spread over 20 teams with only
a few not raising the full 4 cars. Not alot on the car front at all with the majority in Sunny's. FU244 Michael Bunyan had
a used Capri, H817 Richard Hand had a Volvo 340 while top mount was U321 Andy Newtons's unpainted Lada Riva.
There was also an unusual Colt Mirage in the hands of SP434 Gary Godsmack. On the modern front MM72 John
McCubbin has what I believe is the sports first Mk4 Fiesta.

Onto Heat 1 and there were a big grid of 38 cars for it and it started off in lively fashion with AB923 Jonathan Cox
running in 310 ??? ending his day very early. TL18 Richard Webb then stuck it to Cox before E457 Arron Hawes put
away FB70 Steven Hart as the reds came out for I believe 310. On the restart NB691 Paul Snape smeared FU273
Stuart Emery round the armco before going on to attack WA91 Jimmy Moyes. SP34 Kyle Belcher and SM662 Martin
Perkins both lost control and ended up in the armco together and while Belcher recovered, the lively Snapper planted
him into H815 Ian Castle's dead motor. Meanwhile DT54 Alan Cartwright took the win ahead of WA323 Geoff Roberts
and WW311 Danny Smithson.
1st: DT54-Alan Cartwright, 2nd-WA323, 3rd-WW311, 4th-FU439, 5th-FB70, 6th-RD55, 7th-AB67, 8th-MM42,
9th-RD300

Heat 2 had 34 cars and was much quieter with Hart picking up GB714 Jez Gardiner and planting him in the wall.
FU435 Andy Cooper followed in WA40 Greg Ward nicely and Baby Bunny gave a solid hit to TL11 Lee Simmons after
that not much of note apart from spin outs. SM59 James Emerson won ahead of RD197 Peter Dodge and TO260 Keith
Reynolds.
1st: SM59-James Emerson, 2nd-RD197, 3rd-TO260, 4th-RD702, 5th-TL24, 6th-WW830

Onto Heat 3 and we were back up to 36 cars and there were plenty of spin outs with lots of cars piling into the bottom
bend. 691 Snapper gave a head on with the stuck 457 Hawes. AB920 Terry Church fired into 34 Belcher while Winnie
nailed U395 Dave Goldsmith with a hard shot. NB191 Jason Hewlitt and 18 Webb were stuck among dead cars and
were exchanging head ons. SM662 Perky followed in WM674 Anthony Telling nicely before the former nailed Church
as well. Pete Dodge planted U361 Chris Waldon into E456 Terry Hawes' dead car. FB110 Derek Tyler nailed 59 Emu
as Waspy took the win ahead of GB104 Lee Gumm and GB105 Chris Snell.
1st: WA323-Goeff Roberts, 2nd-GB104, 3rd-GB105, 4th-FB110, 5th-FU439, 6th-TO260

34 cars for Heat 4 and it was very quiet save for Snell running in 114 ??? and AB792 Barry Osbourn fired FB82
Nathan Grant into TL24 Dave O'Sullivan. U209 Gary Haresign took the win ahead of Emu and DT112 Shaun Russell.
1st: U209-Gary Haresign, 2nd-SM59, 3rd-DT112, 4th-FU435, 5th-FB2, 6th-TO260

The Final had a good grid of 38 qualifiers for it and Russell ends up in the armco very quickly thanks to oncoming
traffic while 82 Grant hammered into the back of 321 Andy Newton's very sick Riva. A few cars piled in on the pit bend
before the red flags came out for someone in trouble. On the restart WA30 Darren Woresley attacked Pete Dodge
while Emu picked up Winnie and piled him into the back of 395 Goldy's empty car leaving the latters car a mess. 260
Keefy took a shot at WW830 Christian Finch while TO557 Mike Turner got sorted out by Real Deal with hits from 55
Paul Cooke and Pete Dodge. Meanwhile RD702 James Dodge took the win ahead of 537 Mad Mitch and WW315
Jason Ayles. With Dream Team and the Real Deal drawing on points it went down to highest finish in the final so with
Jimbo winning it also gifted his team the win with the Wasps in third.
1st: RD702-James Dodge, 2nd-DT537, 3rd-WW315, 4th-FB2, 5th-TO260, 6th-FB70

Next up was a race for Non-Qualifiers although anyone who could get their car out from the final were permitted as
well. There were 20 cars for this one and it was very quiet as a result although Pete Dodge lead Hart into the wall while
Jimbo did a cracking follow in on 138 Dave Kellett snapping the latter's motor. 2 Jon Bricknall took the win ahead of
Pete Dodge and Jason Ayles.
1st: 2-Jon Bricknall, 2nd-197, 3rd-315, 4th-815, 5th-300, 6th-537

30 returned for a Dash for the Cash race and Keefy started things off by nailing 104 Lee Gumm while Ernie t-boned
the span Nathan Grant. Pete Dodge steamed into the back of Jason Ayles while Emu put Bricknall away. Emu carried
on to stick it to Gardiner as well. Jason Ayles picked up Waspy and planted him into the armco while 54 Winnie took
the cash ahead of Keefy and Mad Mitch.
1st: 54-Alan Cartwright, 2nd-260, 3rd-537, 4th-323

The DD had 14 cars return for it and 920 Church got span out and 214 Lee Vincent obliged with a t-bone. Emu and
Jon Ayles both dished it out to 9 Martin Smith and the former then gave it to McCubbin. Jimbo then nailed Emu in turn.
Vincent gave another shot to church while Cookie hammered 341 ??? before Emu t-boned the latter but he still carried
on. Pete Dodge hit McCubbin before 341 Dan Wilder nailed Jon Ayles only to take a huge package from Jimbo. All 4
Real Deal members were left and Pete Dodge hammered Ayles bofore Jimbo put in Pete. Cookie stuck it to Jimbo and
Ayles and Pete had a head on which finished Ayles and Jimbo finished off his brother with a big hit. Cookie and Jimbo
had a head on and Cookie backed off to take the win.
