Saturday 19th May - Ipswich - World Qualifier

Ipswich’s World Qualifier also doubled up as the John Earrey Memorial and attracted a respectable field of 45 cars.  172
Manic returned a RWD Bluebird, with 159 Rubble doing the same with his Cowdenbeath Mk 1.  614 Mr Lossy dared to
be different with a Honda Accord Aerodeck, whilst 552 Weevil had a late shape Passat Estate, and finally 194 Cecil
brought a Sierra Estate after being told the meeting was all RWD!

Heat 1 attracted 42 cars with 516 Gouldy kicking things off studding 614 Mr Lossy.  235 Dale Rainer sideswiped 552
Tim James into the wall, as 27 Dale Hughes sent 194 Cecil for a spin.  A pile up was begging to form on the top bend
with 58 Greg Stevens sticking it to 131 Barry Wade, the latter taking a portion in the door accidentally from 204 Charlie
King, who was being followed by 439 Danny Sutton.  The waved yellows appeared for Wadey who fortunately walked
away.  As we resumed 15 Kelcin Banthorp followed in 622 Garry Webb as 5 Martin Clements was walled on turn 2 by
158 Shane Davies.  564 Coatie sent 159 Rubble for a spin, allowing 27 Dale Hughes to t-bone the Team Black man
over the front wheel.  802 Darren Marshall leant 622 Gary Webb into Rainer’s vacated motor, as 528 Jethro saw the
race out with a t-bone on 369 Scott Taylor in revenge for an earlier spin.

1st 516 Carl Gould

The Final attracted 29 cars and was a lot quiter as a result.  27 Dale Hughes clipped 146 Wiggy and was lucky not to
roll whilst little other action happened.  Up front there was a cracking race between 730 Maysie and 247 Bro, the former
coming out on top to win the John Earrey Memorial.

1st 730 Dean Mayes

The Dash into DD attracted 24 with 5 Martin Clements spinning 204 Charlie King, leaving himself open to a big shot from
206 Dave King whilst the race drew to a close with 27 Ooze sending 349 Michael Allard into the fence.  The reds
appeared before we went into the DD with 7 staying on for it, and 159 Rubble on the middle but as predicted he came
off to attack 27 Ooze on the green flag.  528 Jethro jacked 437 Chris Bailey against the flow whilst 27 Ooze and 159
Rubble continued their feud.  204 Charlie King jacked 528 Jethro, and got a head on in revenge, allowing 159 Rubble to
come round for a big t-bone, with Jethro silencing Rubble with an equally big head on, Jethro getting the verdict from the
box.
