Sunday 18th November - Ipswich - ORC Team Championship
Report by BangerBash

72 cars for this years ORCi Teams with all the promotions represented to make up 11 teams. As expected home
promotion Spedeworth and defending champs PRI had the full 8 in the teams while Buxton, Incarace and Mendips
were the only other ones so thumbs up to them as well. Car wise there was nothing interesting with the Mk3 Cavalier
being the most popular mount with Spedeowrth and PRI fielding full teams of them.

Heat 1 had 45 cars out for it and B708 Craig Handley (Bluebird) got span by the pack and took head ons from both
SX226 Craig Badger (Primera Est) and G186 Alex Daniels (Primera). P589 Simon Smith went and planted B606 Nigel
Denby (Primera) in the wall and R602 Shaun Cooper (Primera) blasted Smith over the back wheel. M51 Jon
Worstencroft (Primera) attacked I223 Brett Harrison (Bluebird) just before 606 Red Mist went to pull back out and took
an accidental dooring from 999 Scott Hill (Bluebird)and rolled on the infield. After a long wait the waved yellows came
out for the Buxton pilot. On the restart SP349 Michael Allard fired into A207 Michael Woodward and planted him into
I572 Paul Scully's empty Bluebird. 186 Daniels span out A46 Clifford Friend in front of an oncoming A179 Stu
Nightingale (Bluebird) and the latter had nowhere to go but through the side of his teammate and R400 Kevin Shinn
(Mondeo Est) nailed him. P331 Jason Jackson took the win ahead of SP730 Deane Mayes and P188 Matt Fuller.
1st: P331-Jason Jackson, 2nd-SP730, 3rd-P188, 4th-A66, 5th-M315, 6th-P208, 7th-SP194, 8th-SP516, 9th-G317,
10th-P549

A similar field for Heat 2 and M315 Jason Ayles (Bluebird) latched on the back of 730 Mayzie and they ended up on
the speedway and smashed into the water butts. 400 Shinny ended up in the wall and T388 Emmerson Fairweather
nailed him. I222 Maft Logan span out and SX224 Graham Gamble (Primera) gave him a t-bone whilst at the top end
G317 Lee Hendery (Primera) was on fire so the reds were bought out. On the restart 223 Harrison hammered T361
Chris Waldon (Prelude) and P456 Nathan Roberts was span out so R379 Adrian Clifton (Bluebird) gave him a meaty
head on. M363 Sam Trimm nailed 572 Squirt and T525 Wes Starmer (Bluebird) nailed 363 Trummer in turn. 379 the
Worm was waiting on oppo to stop a PRI driver and his chance arrived and t-boned P348 Sonny Sherwood causing
him to do a full roll and the latter carried on. P10 Paul Whiteman and 348 Mushy then both nailed the Worm and B143
Sam Begley (Mondeo Est) fired into Mushy. P208 Jimmy Randall walled M58 Martin Dalton (Bluebird) while R99 Richie
Ahern tried avoiding the on oppo PRI drivers and hit into Screamer before taking a head on from Mushy. B707 Lee
Tomlinson (Primera) stuck it to Mushy while Whiteman and R898 Andy Battle shared a head on. R807 Chris Murfin
then delivered a big t-bone to the PRI world champ and Randall blasted Murf. Meanwhile SP516 Carl Gould took the
win ahead of Randall and A66 Dave Spooner (Mondeo Est).

Onto Heat 3 and there were under 30 cars. Unfortunately no RDC for this one though. SP194 Steve Anscombe took
out T72 Gavin Bond and Daniels did the same to SK344 Max Stoodley and Starmer went through the side of the latter.
I69 John Cope (Bluebird) lunged for P549 Phil Smith while I189 Richard Mystrall (Bluebird) ran in Trummer. A452
Anthony Sleeman (Mondeo) followed in B75 Steve Thacker (Bluebird) a treat while Starmer ran in Harrison. Starmer
didn't have it all his own way as Hill planted him in the armco. Boxer Jack put away 194 Cecil en route to winning ahead
of Mayzie and Gouldy while Cecil recovered for fourth to put Spedeworth well in the lead.
1st: P331-Jason Jackson, 2nd-SP730, 3rd-SP516, 4th-SP194, 5th-B470, 6th-M517, 7th-I69, 8th-SP741, 9th-G317,
10th-T72

There was a big grid that returned for the final and T777 Russel Gill (Primera) attacked 66 Spoons while livewire
Starmer ran in M396 Scott Mowlam (Vectra) nicely. Roberts took out Murf while Boxer went for SP247 Lee Clarke. The
Worm nailed Phil Smith and the former and P589 Simon Smith connected with a head on. A few more piled into the
mess on the turnstyle bend before Boxer ran in 898 Battle and Allard came off the shale to give Boxer a head on and
unfortunately got him in the door to bring the reds straight out. Gouldy was announced the winner with Boxer and
Randall following that although it wasn't enough and Spedeworth took the win.
1st: SP516-Carl Gould, 2nd-P331, 3rd-P208, 4th-R379, 5th-M517, 6th-T361, 7th-SP194, 8th-I572, 9th-R465,

Just under 10 for the DD and Fuller t-boned Battle hard before 110 Grant Doe (Bluebird) blasted the former before
bailing out in double quick time as Fuller was trying to get free. 269 Dean French and 224 Gambler met head on and
226 Badger gave Battle a massive hit. Scott Hill freed Fuller from Doe's empty car to leave these to and Fuller expired
after Hill finished him off as Roberts was trying to join the event before getting a black flag so Scott Hill took the win.
Last Car Running: 999-Scott Hill

Overall a very lively meeting and get well soon to both Red Mist and Boxer Jack who hopefully won't be out of action for
too long.
