Sunday 15th July - Arena Essex - PRI Team Q/R 4 Report by BangerBash A low turnout of 44 cars for round 4 of the PRI Teams spread across 11 sides with only the Cream Team and Eastenders having the full 6 cars. With everything being FWD there wasn’t much on the car front. Most of the field opted for the Cav’s although there were 8 Mondeo’s and WK206 Phil Milner, WK549 Phil Smith and GL589 Simon Smith had Vectra’s and GL106 Phil Pratchett returned a Calibra. BC-Bad Co, BT-Black ‘n’ Blue Thru ‘n’ Thru, CN-Condoms, CT-Cream Team, EE-Eastenders, GG-Gigglers, GL- Gladiators, MR-Midnight Runners, SH-Shunters, WK-Wreckin Krew, YP-YPP2K 26 cars for Heat 1 and it didn’t take long for WK457 Danny McCormack to turn round but came DSU at BC140 Ian Harrison while at the top bend GL589 Smiffy Jnr (Vectra) was getting abuse from EE507 Danny Brown (Bluebird) and CT539 Michael Outen (Mondeo). 513 Sean Harvey turned it round and did EE65 Darren Lee (Bluebird) over the back wheel causing the latter to do a spectacular 1 ½ rolls. The red flags came out but not before BT2 Billy Lee t-bond McCormack. On the restart CT508 Harry Bradbury (Bluebird) took out Harvey while CT249 Jimmy Harding nailed Smiffy Jnr. Danny Boy then t-boned Harvey while 331 Boxer Jack hooked out YP329 Dean Theiseger. Outen then hooked out Harvey so 348 Sonny Sherwood (Mondeo) could nail him. Outen and 542 Craig Oliver (Mondeo) had a head on while 336 Ian Smith turned it round taking out GG383 Jeff Smith (Primera) in the process but ended up taking 3 big t-bones in a row on the armco from Outen, Mushy and Danny Boy. Mushy then nearly rolling it by attacking Smiffy again but got attached to Danny Boy in the process. Outen hammered Smiffy Jnr who had been sitting in the same place for 9 laps and Mushy did the same to Craig Oliver who had also been stationary for a number of laps. Meanwhile CD227 Dale Hughes fled to victory ahead of YP27 Andy Reynolds and Boxer Jack. 1st: CD227-Dale Hughes, 2nd-YP27, 3rd-MR331, 4th-CD60, 5th-CD53, 6th-GG351, 7th-BT460, 8th-EE550, 9th- GG383, 10th-CT539 19 cars for Heat 2 and WK549 Phil Smith (Vectra) gave BT165 Ritchie Jarrold (Bluebird) a head on while GL250 Carl Howard span out on the home straight and took a big t-bone from BC241 Paul Korpiella (Mondeo). WK206 Phil Milner (Vectra) was lurking on oppo and CT456 Nathan Roberts (Mondeo) gave him a stiff head on. SH321 Lee Caunter then fired into the back of Roberts and 542 Oliver repeated the move. EE183 Paul Hunter (Mondeo) then hammered the latter and 589 Smiffy Jnr got the Eastender and CT440 Ian Phillips (Mondeo) did the Gladiator in turn. Korpiella then nailed 250 Joey again before giving him a head on. MR10 Paul Whiteman took then win ahead of teammate 84 Jerry Ansell and BT552 Karl Douglas. 1st: MR10-Paul Whiteman, 2nd-MR84, 3rd-BT552, 4th-YP329, 5th-MR242, 6th-GL423, 7th-EE200, nof The Final was run as an all in and it raised 36 cars for it. It started in a messy fashion with pretty much everyone bar a few getting caught in a pile up on the pit bend. 542 Craig Oliver and Outen exchanged a head on while Mushy followed in GL423 Danny Oliver in style with Oliver catching Joey’s car as well. Jimmy Harding gave Smiffy Jnr a hard shot on the speedway while Craig Oliver’s car was going up in flames. McCormack was on oppo so EE374 Paddy Palmer (Mondeo) turned it round to nail him while Hunter hammered Trigger. CT137 Lee Turner then turned it round to t-bone Trigger. Billy Lee and Palmer both assaulted Harvey. The former then fired into Danny Oliver which had burst into life again and Harding also nailed the Glad. Hunter and Korpiella also both gave Harvey a hard time. MR399 Phil Cullen (Primera) took the wrong racing line and collected Danny Boy’s Bluebird while GG351 Lee Woodards surprised everyone by taking the win ahead of CD60 Steve Laybourn and Whiteman. Overall the scores were counted and the Runners won from the 3 man team of the Condoms and 2 cars of the Gigglers. 1st: GG351 Lee Woodards, 2nd-CD60, 3rd-MR10, 4th-MR84, 5th-CT137, 6th-EE550, 7th-CD53, 8th-BC348, 9th- BT552, 10th-CT440 After the 4 rounds the points were added and went as follows: 1st: Midnight Runners-359 2nd-Condoms-242 3rd-Gigglers-133 4th-Eastenders-45 5th-YPP2K-18 6th-Black ‘n’ Blue Thru ‘n’ Thru-16 7th-Cream Team-15 8th-Bad Co-14 9th-Glads-13 10th-Wreckin Krew-11 11th-Shunters-2 The Rawlins/DD raised 19 cars and Turner nailed McCormack while Trigger took out Phillips. The latter then dishing it out to Smiffy Jnr before Trigger gave it to the Cream Team man in turn. Mushy and Phil Smith had a head on and Hunter t-boned the young Smith. Smiffy Jnr and Mushy then had a head on and Korpiella fired into McCormack. Hunter then hitting Smiffy Jnr and Turner doing the same to Trigger. Danny Boy then hitting McCormack as well while Turner had another pop at Trigger. Korpiella then finished off Smiffy Jnr and Phil Smith battled on to nail Billy Lee. The lively Korpiella then nailing Trigger again only to take one from Smith. Danny Boy then nailing the latter. Meanwhile Whiteman took out the leading Woodards on the last bend to take the win in the Rawlins race and everyone who was interested in the laps pulled off bar Bleach and Cullen. Billy Lee doing Smiffy Jnr one more time while Bleach t-boned Danny Boy and it was left with just the 2 Runners and they exchanged a couple of hits and Cullen emerged as victorious.
