Wednesday 13th June - Arlington - Unlimited Bangers World Q/R Report by BangerBash A good turnout of just under 50 cars for the first Wednesday night session for the Unlimited Bangers at Arlington. Visitors in attendance from RDC, PRI, Autospeed and Startrax. Most of the field opted for Mk2’s with a few Jag’s among the attendance. Pick of the Jag’s were 99 Richie Ahern’s Series 1 XJ which unfortunately failed scrutineering. 245 Jack France returned a Triumph 2000 while the top motors on show were the trio of Laurels in the hands of 299 Stuart Young, 183 Mick Strudwick and 384 Liam Conway with the formers being used. Onto Heat 1 and just under 20 out for it. 27 Dale Hughes (XJ6) on the offence straight away by running in Team Black’ s 159 Mitchell Mills with 998 Wayne Cottrill Jnr nailing the Condom. 363 James Bulley (Volvo 740) also helping out his running mate by firing into Cotty. 25 Mark Thomas spun out and copped a head on from 514 Marty Eighteen. 820 Martyn Perkins nailed Bulley and 93 Chris North (Volvo 240 Est) hammered the former. 522 Tim James (Volvo 740 Est) latched onto 340 Colin Jones and planted him into the back of the luckless Bulley. Weevil then going on to take out both 614 Chris Hide (XJ40) and Tombo. Things went quiet but not before 331 Jason Jackson (XJ6) picked up 772 Simon Byrne and followed him into Bulley’s Volvo which snapped Bernie’s Mk2 a treat. 614 Chris Hide then also piled into Bernie’s well wrecked motor. 741 Luke Parfitt took the win in a Mk3 Cav. Just under 30 for Heat 2 but was actually quieter. 670 Richard Flockton (XJ6) put in 245 Jack France (Triumph 2000) before 299 Stuart Young (Laurel) took Tricky out. 242 Ricky Korpiella done 384 Bad Boy Liam (Laurel) over the back wheel. 4 Lee Hughes (XJ6) put away 862 Terry Scrutton. 82 Paul Tomkins then spun out Bad Boy Liam. 58 Greg Stevens the destroyed the long vacated Mk2 of 88 Tim McDonald, the only other action of note was 862 Terry Scrutton firing Huxley into the wall while 730 Deane Mayes won in (you guessed it) a Mk3 Cav with 247 Lee Clarke (get the picture) and Kingy following that. Heat 3 was all out and it raised around 35 cars so it was a packed track. 226 Jamie Marsh (Volvo 240 Est) kicked things off by quickly putting away 478 Mark Logan and a lap later Weevil had Marsh on the receiving end for the same move. 514 Marty Eighteen ran in Scrutton hard while Ooze Boy lunged at Cotty. Boxer turned it round for a head on and 456 Nathan Roberts (XJ6) accidently caught him in the door. Boxer continued to go through the side of Tricky before then nailing the spun out Bad Boy Liam. 264 Mark Welland then went for Boxer head on before Maysie took a double. Under 30 for the Final and it was fairly quiet, although Boxer turned it round to nail Tricky again and 24 Jason Cuddihy (Mk3) went into the back of the latter. Maysie then got caught up and saw himself in the back of the Mk3. Ooze Boy went for Cotty again and gave him a long ride round the Armco while 820 Perkins t-boned Boxer. Eighteen fired into Weevils empty motor while (not another Mk3 Cav win surely!!!) Maysie took the win for a good triple.
