Sunday 8th April - Arena Essex - 2 Litre Bangers Report by BangerBash 33 cars turned out for a 2litre domestic at Arena dominated with Mk3 Cavaliers although there was a couple of the Mk2 version. RWD cars included used ones for 195 and 198 Kelvin Tatum returning a 2dr Mk5 Cortina and a Mk4 both from the National meeting. 399 Phil Cullen returned the Mazda 929 Estate while 250 Carl Howard provided a fresh Capri. 549 Phil Smith also turned up with a Vectra. 16 cars out for Heat 1 and it didn’t take long to kick off with 169 Lenny Brinkley (Primera) nailed 349 Lewis Price (Astra Mk3). 549 Phil Smith (Vectra) then connected with Lenny Boy while 374 Paddy Palmer and 665 Brad Turner (Mk2 Cav) both hammered Squaddie. Squaddie then accidently connected with teammate 321 Lee Caunter (Astra Mk2 Est). Phil Smith attacked Paddy once more while 206 Phil Milner turned it round to get 456 Nathan Roberts (Sunny Est) albeit in the door. 250 Joey and Phil Smith then finished off Roberts before things went quiet. 105 Billy Standing won the race ahead of 331 Boxer Jack and 196 Stu Palmer with only 5 finishing. 1st: 105-Billy Standing, 2nd-331, 3rd-196, 4th-60, 5th-242, nof Same again for Heat 2 and 589 Simon Smith span it round and ended up hitting 195 ??? head on. Smiffy Jnr then backing and sticking it to 348 Sonny Sherwood (Primera) and 539 Michael Outen nailed the former. 342 Big Dave (Bluebird) took out 113 Ian Beaumont before then giving a head on to 513 Sean Harvey (Cav Mk2). Outen, Burns and Mushy then piled into Harvey’s motor. Big Dave then gave 174 Dave Osbourn (Mondeo) a t-bone and 84 Jerry Ansell (Sunny) went into Whipper. Outen and Burns both nailed Whipper before 188 Matt Fuller took the win. 1st: 188-Matt Fuller, rest to follow 24 cars came out for the Allcomers and 161 Burns gave it to Whipper as Big Dave gave 250 Carl Howard a hard time. Burns and Turkish had a head on and 549 Phil Smith went into the back of Burns. Howard then hitting Smith accidentally and Mushy picks up 321 Trigger and wiped him all around the armco. Lenny Boy and Phil Smith then connected with a head on as did Whipper and Burns. The Mush then nailed Phil Smith on oppo and 336 Ian Smith turned it round to hit up the back of Mushy. Outen then gave Smiffy a couple of stiff hits before Smiffy and Mushy had a head on. Outen then nailed both Smiffy and Trigger again. 331 Boxer won the race ahead of 103 Michael Seex and 188 Matt Fuller. 1st: 331-Jason Jackson, 2nd-103, 3rd-188, 4th-196, 5th-567, 6th-84, 7th-60, 8th-242, 9th-399, nof Just over 20 for the Rawlins and DD and Burns fired into Turkish’s motor which didn’t start up and Mushy planted Smiffy into Turkish. Lenny Boy then t-boned Trigger while 105 Billy Standing put away 198 Kelvin Tatum. 665 Brad Turner gave Sean Harvey a head on. Turner’s luck then ending soon after as Boxer picked him up on the straight and followed him in big time nearly rolling on impact leaving the Cav Mk2 a mess. 250 Carl Howard and 242 Ricky Korpiella (Sunny) then had a head on before Mushy nailed Whipper’s Mondeo. 196 Stu Palmer won the race as it went into the DD and just Mushy, Cullen and Whipper left. Whipper and Mushy having a head on and as Mush lined Whipper up for another hit Cullen connected with a solid head on.
