| 29/10/2005 - Arlington - Unlimited Bangers Gala Night Spedeworth had been working hard all week with cancellations and bringing people in from the reserve list, and the ultimate result was a decent turn out of 53 motors. Plenty to keep the tin fans happy with aswell, with 320 Graham Duell returning a Mk 2 Granny Limo, and 384 Bad Boy Liam topping that with a Mk 1 Coupe. There was Jap beef from 869 Davey Peskett, 10 Paul Whiteman and 127 Dale Hughes all with crowns, the latters used, whilst 89 John Harber had a splendid Crown Super Estate. On the vintage front 568 Joe Maslen brought back a P5 from Standlake earlier in the year, whilst 134 Toady had a fresh Coupe version. 264 Mark Welland returned from injury with a used DS420 Limo, whilst 814 Mark Millen (14 on the night) returned a Wolseley 6/110. 816 Stuart Fuller had an almost vintage Volvo 145 Estate, whilst 737 Elliot Finnie had a lush Mk 10 Jaguar. It was the 3 Yanks, however, that topped the bill. A Ford Mercury Cougar for 206 Dave King, Chrysler LeBaron for 213 Tony Roe which sadly never raced, and a superb Pontiac GTO Coupe for 346 Scott Saunders. 30 cars appeared for Heat 1, with a large pileup forming on the scoreboard bend, with 737 Finnie running 206 Kingy straight in from the off. 169 Lenny Boy put 502 Kayleigh Dyton into the pile up as 522 Weevil did a fierce rollover in the middle of the pack, before coming back onto all 4, and being blasted by 89 John Harber. 427 Aaron Pollard fired into 568 Joe Maslen in the pile up, with 372 Lee Evans jacking the 427 Mk 3 Granada in turn, before 869 Davey Peskett joined the train. 322 Twiggo turfed aside 598 and 346 Muttley with 869 Peskett again on the case, jacking 598. At this point the reds appeared to allow drivers to exit their cars and to clear the track. From the restart 348 Mushy flicked out 102 Nathan King and 120 Craig Rose in quick succession as 328 Mark Hughes put himself in the pit gate very hard. 183 Struddy followed in the yank of 346 Muttley, with 264 Welland firing up Struddy, and that man 869 Peskett nailing 183 Struddy on the nose, allowing 363 Bulley to jack the Cowboy’s Crown. At this point 348 Mushy’s engine let go, as 120 Rose jacked 346 Muttley infront of the rostrum as 147 Barry Fuller was leading in fine style. 206 Kingy Slowed and attempted to take out the rookie banger man but it was to no avail, Fuller taking an easy win. As usual the split had gone wrong, with just 18 for Heat 2, with 384 Liam Conway on the case from the off following in 666 Derek Moses. 121 Steve Williams spun 93 Northy as 384 Bad Boy Liam followed 273 Paul Henry in on the top bend. 169 Lenny Boy put 10 Whiteman into the Armco as 203 Gnashed buried 700 Anthoney Webb on the top bend leaving the Mk 3 well warped. Seconds later 320 Graham Duell nailed the Midnight Runner, with 121 Steve Williams then trashing Duell’s Limo to end the train. 127 Dale Hughes fenced 121 Williams was 203 Gnashed walled 355 Simmonds in a rapid Mk 3. 203 Gnasher then put 127 Dale Hughes into the Armco on the road bend, Hughes then leaning Gnasher into the Armco on the straight as 294 Lee Hughes took the win. Heat 3 was an Allcomers, and 30 returned for it, with a train going in from the off involving 299 Young, 811 Rees and 169 Lenny boy. 322 Twiggo dished out a head on to the spun 273 Lee Evans as 127 Dale Hughes walled 338 Shogun and leant him into 811 Danny Rees. 4 Wildy jacked 583 Dan weeks as 340 Colin Jones flicked out 10 Whiteman. 355 Simmonds spun 568 Maslen into the Armco as 206 Kingy nailed 583 Dan Weeks’ hat on, as on the scoreboard turn 294 Lee Hughes gave 340 Colin Jones a stiff shot over the back wheel, allowing 598 in for a t-bone on Jones, as 206 Kingy gave 583 a stiff jacking leaving the roof well elevated. A pileup was forming, as 4 Wildy jacked 203 Gnashed, with 127 Dale Hughes following 264 Welland into Wildy, and 294 Lee Hughe t- boning Welland’s DS over the back wheel. 294 Stuntman spun it round and piled into the pile up on oppo, and then did a lap on oppo, earning a black flag as brother 127 Dale wiped 206 Kingy round the Armco en route to his second victory of the evening. 21 came back for the Final, with 294 Lee Hughes walling 869 Peskett from the off, with 27 Dale Hughes then firing up the back of Peskett. 299 Stuart Young followed in 273 Paul Henry was 89 John Harber added team mate 134 Toady to the pileup! 294 Lee Hughes was straight in on 89 Harber, was 245 Jack France walled 502 Dyton, and 598 nailed 137 Toady on the nose. 206 Kingy then pulled off hit of the night with a simply massive shot on 273 Paul Henry, with himself completing a full roll in the yank, and Henry ending up on his roof! Thankfully both exited OK without the need for a stoppage. 264 Welland wound out 10 Whiteman as 188 The Smoker nailed 598 infront of the rostrum. 264 Welland spun 294 Lee Hughes, spinning himself in the process, as 264 Welland again put 10 Whiteman in the fence, the luckless Runner then taking a shot over the front wheel, however he fired back to jack up 598 on oppo, as Dale Hughes completed his hattrick. A fair field of 11 for the DD, with 869 Peskett non-runner from the start. 294 Lee Hughes was on the case again, jacking 14 Millen and putting him into the Armco, as 93 Northy gave 816 Fuller one on the nose, before they met again, this time on the shale. 340 Jonesy dished out a head on to 372 Le Evans, as 502 Kayleigh Dyton jacked 93 Northy, with the latter catching up and spinning his assailant out. 127 Dale Hughes did 502 Dyton over the front wheel on oppo, as 294 Stuntman did 363 Bulley head on. 363 Bulley then jacked Stuntman allowing Dale Hughes to jack Bulley. 294 Stuntman got going again to fire it up 502 Dyton before 127 Hughes gave him a stiff shot and put him in the Armco. 294 Stuntman did Dyton over the back wheel on oppo, with Dyton taking further punishment in a head on from 363 Bulley. 127 Dale Hughes jacked brother 294 Lee with 363 Bulley again jacking Stuntman. It was then all fun and games between the 3, including a couple of stiff head ons, before 294 Lee Hughes ended as last car running after a good show from all 3 men.
