
| Sunday 11th September - Smeatharpe - Autospeed World Final Report by BangerBash There were a total of 51 cars in the pits for the Alternative World Final. Visitors coming from TSR, RDC, PRI, Incarace and Spedeworth. Onto the material with the dominant car being the Mk2 Granada. The top Granada mounts were the used Mk2 Limo from 153 Lionman and the fresh Mk1 from 205 Ian Bennett. The used material came from 83 Andy Beaven, 100 Sat, 906 Jon Ross and 772 Barry Newton bringing a 300C, an Omega, an MGB GT and a Rover P4 respectively. On the fresh side 273 Stuart Emery had a Supra, 536 Annette Nicholls had an XJS while topping the bill was the Triumph 200 Est of 252 Lib James'. Also credit due to 202 Kilf and 584 Sharky for their smart efforts on their Mk2's who both got best painted awards along with Annette Nichols and Ian Bennett. With all but 2 of the World Qualifiers turning up ment there was 3 qualifying spots in the last chance race which had 23 cars in it. It started with 808 Mark Curtis (Mk2) and 584 Sharky both going into the pit gate together. 772 Barry Newton then went up the back of the former. 282 Uglee (Mk2) followed 153 Lionman into the fence which stopped the latter. 68 John James (Volvo Est) took a wide line and got hit by Sharky. 9 Kevin Harris (Mk2) got in a shot on Uglee but didn't have much effect. 905 Jason Ross (Mk2) picked up 740 Brian Daniels (Mk2) and smashed him into the side of Lionmans Limo putting the roof up of Daniels and leaving the limo a mess as 133 Karly Day (XJ) jacked the 905 car. 311 Lee Bradbury (Mk2) fired up the back of John James and Kevin Harris did more of the same to the former ending Bradburys day early. The last bit of action was Uglee spinning Sharky out as 133 Karly Day took the win ahead of 273 Stuart Emery and 205 Ian Bennet while 57 Basher was unlucky to miss out in 4th. 1st: 133-Karly Day, 2nd-273, 3rd-205, 4th-57, 5th-282, 6th-247, 7th-584, 8th-740 nof Next up was the World Final with Stuart Emery drawing pole for what was an extremely wet track. There were 31 cars for this. 406 Chris Bridger (Volvo 740) went and spun 99 Ahern (Mk2) into the pack. 199 Bona (Mk2) went and hit up the back of 355 Mark Simmonds (Mk2 Est). 592 Mark Marchant (Mk2 Est) span out only to take a head on from 133 Werzal as 225 Richie Edmonds (Volvo Est) span out 200 Noon (Mk2). 107 Dan Chipling (Mk2 Est) hit 469 Ken Peters (XJ40) as 273 Emery gave Ahern another spin and an unseen car went and ended his day within about 2 laps. 133 Werzal decided to join in and fued with team Mental and jack 107 Chipling up. 190 Pikey (Mk2) started a fued with 231 Stuart Dunn by taking him out as Werzal went up the back of Pikey. Pikey sat and waited while Dunn gave him a solid jacking shot coming round the next lap to waste him as Pikey sat tight for more. 225 Edmonds put 133 Karly into the fence while Marchant also hit Pikey to turn him round so Dunn could give him a head on. The rest was pretty quiet and 271 Dean Goodearl took the flag after lapping the field ahead of 46 Maverick, 202 Mike Kilford and 158 Shane Davies. 1st: 271-Dean Goodearl, 2nd-46, 3rd-202, 4th-158, 5th-404, 6th-200, 7th-890, 8th-225, 9th-199 nof 25 cars came out for the Allcomers and the rain had stopped by then but the track was still slippery. It started with 409 Joey Collins putting 906 Jon Ross away as Kevin Harris went in for the T-bone on the former. Meanwhile there were a few cars causing a pile up on the home straight with 905 Jason Ross (Mk2) firing up the back of 225 Richie Edmonds while 341 Andrew Jones (Mk2) came in with a T-bone on the latter. Edmonds carried on going only to get spun by Deano and 19 Joe Mullarky gave him a head on for his troubles. 133 Werzal then got a good shot on Dove Toe which caused him and the yellows to fued for much of the race. 249 Darren Brock took Uglee into the pile up as 57 Basher Broad gives 409 Joey Collins a head on in the centre as there wasn't much room to hit anywhere else. 890 Barry Collins picked up 740 Brian Daniels and stormed him into the side of Simmonds who was on the middle and embed him more into the inner armco. Joey Collins had a hit in on 68 John James as 381 Trever Joyce (Mk2) turns it round to connect with Dove Toe while Edmonds piled in as well. 57 Basher then turned it round himself to meet 58 Martin Dalton (Mk2) head on to finish the pair of them. 890 Barry Collins got a good jacking on 199 Bona as 46 Maverick gets in a stiff shot to the former. Bona and Dove Toe continued their private DD while 409 Joey Collins gets in a shot to 381 Trev which only left 4 going to the finish. 271 Deano got his second win of the day followed home by 46 Maverick, 200 Noon and a struggling 536 Annette Nicholls. 1st: 271-Dean Goodearl, 2nd-46, 3rd-200, 4th-536 nof A good number for the back for the DD and it started with a few hits on turns 1 and 2. 372 Jay Matthews took a big on from Chris Bridger leavin it in a quite a mess . 231 Dunn blasting up the back of 153 Keogh and the lively Dunn carried on and jacked Pikey some more (who had done very well to repair). 68 John James who was going round the wrong way very fast had an almighty head on with 249 Darren Brock finishing them both. 341 Jones got a hit in on Basher as 905 Jason Ross jacked the latter. Jones decided to go on oppo this time and give Basher a head on while Ross backed off to gives another hit to him. 83 Beaven then gave Ross a head on in the middle as 341 Jones did a hit to 159 Daniel Godley. The lively ross came round to give Godley a head on as Beaven did a tidy jacking to the 159 car to finish him off. Beaven then got a good hit in on Jason Ross to finish them both off and 83 Beaven was declared the rightful winner as he was the last 1 moving involved in the action.
