| Saturday 3rd Nobember - Ipswich - Gala Night Report by BangerBash A brilliant showing of just under 70 Unlimited Bangers for the annual Gala Night at Ipswich. An excellent turnout with the Granada the favoured tool with all 5 marques of them being in action. Among the Granada entry there were Mk2 Limo's in the hands of 51 Jon Worstencroft and 516 Carl Gould, which were both superbly turned out, while 331 Jason Jackson had a Mk1. There were also plenty of Jag's among the entry all XJ's of some variety with only 670 Richard Flockton's used Mk10 standing above the rest although unfortunately it failed to make the track. Onto the british beef and there was plenty of it with 187 Eddy Bremmer and 349 Michael Allard weilding Rover P4's while 273 Kevin McClagish and 700 Jason Davies had P5 versions, the latters being used. 263 John Jacombs had the lone Merc with a 200E. 177 Jon Till had a very smart Rolls Royce Silver Shadow. Onto the Yanks and 513 Sean Harvey returned a Caddy Seville while 403 Steve Parrish returned a 1968 Ford Thunderbird which was used at this meeting last year. 190 Jan Verhoven, 665 Didier Callerwaert and 890 Leszek Malinowski had Chevy Caprice's, the formers a 2 door version. 564 Mark Cooper and 753 Billy Cunningham both had stunning Lincoln Town Car Limo's and 33 Simon Reed had a superstretch one. In my eyes completing the bill with the top car was 60 Ton Van Haaren's Chevy Impala Estate. All cars are Mk2's unless stated. Onto Heat 1 and just over 30 cars appeared for it. 153 Justin Garman (XJ) kicked things off by forcing 516 Gouldy (Mk2 Limo) into 226 Jamie Marsh's fenced motor. Gouldy putting on a good drive to avenge the attack and take Garmo out. Meanwhile there was a pile up froming on the top bend which saw 216 Mark Burrows (XJ) pile in flat out and 564 Coatie (Lincoln Limo) blasted the latter. 190 Hunter (Caprice) absolutely lengthed the limo and amazingly they both backed off. 753 Cunningham (Lincoln Limo) also fired into Buzzer to snap the XJ and there were more prolems for the luckless Buzzer when 512 Lewis Harvey (Volvo 740 Est) planted Marsh into him. 86 Alwin Grit (XJ) hammred 437 Chris Bailey (Mk3) while 536 Annette Nicholls (XJ) put away Hunter before things went quiet. 22 Dave Vincent took the win ahead of 405 Neil Cornish and 438 Paul Dobson (Mk4). 1st: 22-Dave Vincent, 2nd-405, 3rd-438, 4th-51, 5th-617, 6th-644, 7th-516, 8th-536, 9th-549 Just under 35 for Heat 2 and it started badly for 33 The Legend (Lincoln Superstretch) as he got spun out on the 1st bend. 890 Pavarotti (Caprice) fired into 97 Dave Brown while 665 Didier Callerwaert gave the Legend a head on. The Woodland man backed off only for Pavarotti to give the Legend a stonking head on to snap the Limo ending his night very early. 800 Stuart Tyderman (Volvo 740 Est) piled into the back of Pavarotti before Callerwaert blasted the Volvo pilot in turn. A few laps later 10 Paul Whiteman put Callerwaert away and 188 Matt Fuller did the same to 433 Ben Smith (XJ). 403 Steve Parrish and Callerwaert had a head on on the shale before the reds came out for an unknown reason but didn't stop 87 Justin Kappart hitting the leading 208 Jimmy Randall on the reds to put Randall out of the race. It was an actionless restart and 331 Boxer Jack took the win in his rapid Mk1 ahead on teammates Fuller and Whiteman for a Midnight Runners whitewash. 1st: 331-Jason Jackson, 2nd-188, 3rd-10, 4th-160, 5th-229, 6th-273, 7th-56, 8th-206 Bang on 45 cars for the all in Final and 50 Gert Hoekman (XJ40) blasted 445 Chris Smith (Volvo 740 Est) while 403 Mad Duck took out 753 Cunningham before hitting Hoekman. 753 Cunningham dished out a t-bone to 273 Kevin McClagish (Rover P5) before the reds came out for what I believe is a wheel on the track. On the restart 22 Dave Vincent fired 520 Craig Manning (Mk5) into the wall while Chris Smith give a huge t-bone to Coatie's Limo which was sideways across the track. 262 Jason Barnard (Volvo 240 Est) picked up Cunningham's Limo and followed him in straight through the side of 263 John Jacombs Merc before 273 McClagish t-boned the limo. 617 Jack Overy (XJ) fired into the back of Hoekman before 336 Ian Smith (Volvo 740) spun the Team Black man out just as the waved yellows came out fro Hoekman who was in a spot of trouble. When the laps began again 229 Richie Holmes (Volvo 240 Est) planted 439 Danny Sutton (XJ) into the empty 50 car. 395 Steven Hale took out 733 Carl Picton while Boxer completed the double. 1st: 331-Jason Jackson, rest to follow Next up was the Allcomers and it raised just under 25 cars and 665 Callerwaert blasted 229 Homes before the greens were even out! 262 the Verger stuck it to 326 Paul Picton and 53 Ben Holtrop (XJ) followed 51 Wusty (Mk2 Limo) into the back of the WI Engineering pilot. The Verger still continued and clipped the side of Wusty before being blasted by Overy big time and Sutton did Overy in turn. Chris Smith walled 206 Phil Milner (Volvo 240 Est) before 512 Lewis Harvey aided his teammate and blasted the former while 56 Vincky (Volvo 740) took the win. Onto the DD and Turkish was begging to be freed from the wreckage on the car park turn and luck would have it as 190 Hunter blasted Wusty's empty motor to free him. Buzzer clipped Wusty's motor and stayed on oppo to hit Turkish. 177 Tillio (Silver Shadow) and Turkish then met in a head on. 349 Michael Allard (Rover P4) gave a t-bone to the Gladiator before meeting Buzzer on the nose. Vincent hammered Tillio while the Verger did the same to United. Overy then giving it to the Verger while Buzzer hit Allard. Turkish and Vincent met in a head on and Smiffy hit the latter. Vincent managed to outlast Smiffy and Tillio to win after meeting Smiffy in a stiff head on.
